You are very generous. As I suspect Moore is given space because of what he was rather than what he offers now. He has perhaps outlived his capacities to analyse and argue from the days when he was paid to do it by government. His arguments against the ETS are one thing but denying climate change is just trying to show how brave and anti-orthodoxy you are. Which seems to be enough for the bulk of the denialist lobby. And you may have missed his latest AFR missive published this week in claims that 'within five years mini-nuclear power plants will likely be available on an economic basis'. He offers no details, supporting references or citations just a shameless faith in 'overseas reports'. Nothing prima facie about his position at all. And if you love the Latin that much - he is resting on his bona fides and quite clearly has one rule for his own egregious inventions and another for those of the environmentalists he hates

Why confine yourself to being self-revelatory and abusive Baal when you could perhaps be a little bit persuasive by giving reasons why Des Moore's letters are ratbaggery or why using tendentious language to say someone is nor convinced by the scientific case for the ETS and does support the use of nuclear power in Australia as well as the countries we sell uranium to is enough to make right minded people think ill of Des Moore and of the AFR?

Could it be relevant to the AFR's frequent publication of his views that he has actually published and circulated a lot of cogent papers and was No. 2 man in the federal Treasury for several years so has huge experience in assessing evidence for any case made in favour of spending a lot of money. Unlike most of us his views have some authority and prima facie need to be refuted if you don't agree with him - so why not give it a try?

The letters column certainly has its favourites - especially people who sign themselves as directors of an 'institute' viz the ratbaggery of Des Moore (climate change denialist and advocate of nuclear power) gets guaranteed space for anything he writes because he says he's director of the Institute for Private Enterprise.

Steve Keen a Keynesian? A Marxist maybe but mostly egregious. And world famous? Only in the eyes of that lightweight blogger David Hirst whose "Daily Planet" column you link too.

Has Steve Keen got anything right? (And has David Hirst said anything which isn't verbose waffle?) We know Steve Keen sold his house because he believed his own prediction of a 40 per cent fall in house prices. Maybe that has made him "world famous".
