Surely you've worked it out by now Richard Farmer. Jenny Sams is overly diplomatic. Basically, southern Strayans can't pronounce big words like V-I-C-T-O-R-I-A let alone two and three word combinations so they remain unmentioned. OK, I'll leave the little island out of this. While those struggle-states practice their lip syncs and tongueties, go-gettin' states like the Northern Territory (yes, it's a state, Queensland is a condition remember), that territory has its own newspaper, beer and stuff. I've heard they'll be getting high quality cheap mail-order wine in the next couple of years. Hell knows where that's coming from - sure ain't Queensland.

Thank James McDonald. I was going to say something as well but I don't think I would have said it as well.

Bertie Pillai, and Romola Sebastianpillai,

The interview with "Joseph Jagadeeswaran" was made up. It's Australian satire--humour with a serious purpose. Not always clear to people who aren't used to our way of political discourse here.

A lot of arguments are being used in Australia right now in the hope of denying any assistance or, really, any regard for the human rights of Tamils or other persons who come here to ask for our help and a safe place to live.

Some of those arguments are so stupid, and so contrary to principles which those same bigots would defend in another context, that breaking them down by logic often loses the attention of the audience and fails to bring any reasonableness into the discussion.

When that happens, sometimes the only way to cut through the stupidity is with humour. The fictitious interview with "Joseph Jagadeeswaran" shows that some of the anti-refugee arguments being used could only be valid arguments, or statements of truth, if refugees were insane.

I hope you read this and that clears up the issue. Crikey should have added a clarifying comment on this, I don't know why they didn't. They are on your side.
