The AFL Grand Final had an AVERAGE of 3.847 million people watching over 3.5 hrs across Australia, if you add up regional and 5 capital city ratings.
(These ratings exclude country WA and SA)
Average Rural Ratings: 161,000 in Northern NSW, 127,000 in Southern NSW, 153,000 in Queensland, 383,000 in Vic, 145,000 in Tas. Unknown in WA and SA.
Average 5 Capital City ratings: 330,000 in Sydney, 1,501,000 in Melbourne, 278,000 in Brisbane, 426,000 in Adelaide, 343,000 in Perth

Obviously more than "70,000" people watched in rural Australia, infact it was at least 969,000 people and that doesnt count WA or SA cities and towns.

Before you write a story Glenn, get your facts in first please.

(I would also suggest that if you really want to comapare NRL and AFL TV ratings you need to look at peak and cumulative/reach ratings figures, as the AFL Grand Final figures are an average viewership over 3.5 hrs and the NRL Grand Final over 2 hours.)
