I find Trading Post Online a difficult site to navigate and I don't use it unless I have to as there are better-designed sites, especially for cars.

It is laid out as though it is a hard copy newspaper. Unless it gets a work-over by non-newspaper people who know how to design online shopping sites, then I'll not be a customer.

Who owns gumtree? It one of the bigger operations presenting as folksy local scene. It's quite effective. I notice some scammers on there in acommodation (dodgy overseas types claiming local address) so you need to exercise awareness. I notice even rsvp at fairfax cross sells on it.

And I wonder how common craiglist is in Australia now? My old boss at City Hub hated Craig list, but since then he's got a complementary website and probably bleeding revenue on his small operation too.

Anyway trading post is still on the web and worth a look for cars and stuff in my experience. But the gumtree model is strong with regionalised geographical refinements in searches, though their search results are sometimes incorrect.
