Niall Clugston - re markets, money and the Middle Ages. yes, that was precisely my point, you dimwit - made explicitly in the article. I said that money and markets existed before capitalism, but were constrained by culture. Capitalism reversed the relationship between economy and culture.
The programme i laid out as a post-capitalist one abolishes neither property nor money, but it does set it within a framework of social control, and democratic action, witha conscious focus on decommodification. That is quite different to post war social democracy, which was run thru the state. Read the bloody article. Then. engage. typing.fingers.with.brain.

Could I also say something about the unlovely Senator Ron Boswell. About 12 years ago, I hopped on a Qantaslink Bae 146 in Canberra to travel to Brisbane, took my seat in row 1 and there next to me was Boswell. I was doing some RAAF Reserve work at the time and was wearing my officer's uniform. Bowell didn't acknowledge me at all and spent the trip sleeping and snoring. From 25 years experience in the ADF and travelling by air, most people, particularly VIPs will introduce and chat with ADF personnel they're sitting near. I saw Boswell a couple of months ago in the pie shop at Wynnum in Brissy - he hasn't got any more beautiful! Ray Sanderson
