” Unfinished Business in Brisbane ”

A major problem and impediment to progress is the Black Bureaucracy. That layer of people between us and the Government (read money) the middleman (or woman) Mainly Administration and Management of Aboriginal and Islander and associated organizations. i.e. Legal Services, Health Services, Hostels, Youth Services, Education etc, their Supporters in the Public Services, including the mainly Black, One-Eyed Academics.This is why people like Michael Long and others feel the need to Communicate Directly with heads of Government. To Circumnavigate These People. It is the Failure of These People that led directly to the Loss of A.T.S.I.C. There is Absolutely No Doubt! about this. The Accumulation of Blatant Maladministration, Mismanagement and Gross Incompetence in A&I Organisations in Brisbane for instance, led to the Loss of Musgrave Park Aboriginal Corporation (M.P.A.C), a major service provider that was responsible for two A&I hostels in Brisbane. As well as being a day and drop-in center for many A&I and non Indigenous homeless and street people. EVERYONE !!!! in South Brisbane including Non-Indigenous Locals, The Police, the A&I Community, the People that Accept and Accepted the mantle of Community Leaders and Spokespersons and so called Role Models, Was Aware of the Ongoing Maladministration, Mismanagement and Corruption including drug-dealing, Associated With This Organisation, And for years! Yet, NOT ONE !!!! was prepared to say or do anything about it! Many were on the board of M.P.A.C. at various times. A lot of these people are, Still on the Boards of, Running, and Employed in, A&I organisations in Brisbane and Handling 100s of Thousands of Dollars! Everyone Knows Who They Are, and it is No Secret. Inquire of these issues to the so called, Local Leaders and Spokespersons, and they will declare, that they are, Blind and Deaf. This is the reason for the Deafening Silence on the Demise of A.T.S.I.C. Accountability Thrown Out The Door! Yet, With Employment and Funding Secure. It was the same with the dismantling of the Aboriginal Development Corporation (A.D.C.) Much properties and infrastructures, unknown to the general public or discussed, was passed on privately, and to Boards of Organisations. Much was lost! Including monies advanced to staff and management, and unsecured loans. Many people were (a lot still around) Let Off the Hook! And now it looks the same with A.T.S.I.C. Many have been around for to long. The Old Guard a lot of them. Still clinging to their past achievements. A lot done a lot of good. But now it is time for them to Move On. They certainly have No Answers to the Problems in this Country. It is Extremely Doubtful, if they even know what the Problems Are! And some even, Responsible For Them. This is why in the main, A&I people including street -people and the paint sniffers, have No Respect for Them and their, Oppressive, Tunnel-Visioned, One Dimensional, Agendas, and A&I Organisations and Services in general.( alb. c.6/03 )

I do feel sad for you. There must be little joy in your life. I will thank you though, because your giving me the opportunity to dispel so many of the tired old arguments. I’m putting you and your kind on notice here. Racism has a limited time left in Australia, and if people like yourself are so threatened by Aboriginal people having control of their lives and land, then you must be hiding something pretty nasty.

What is your agenda Arthur? Because you come very close to inciting hatred, and there is a law against that in Australia, for very good reason. So why don’t you come clean and declare your true interests?

This bloke has been has obviously been Influenced and Misled by the articulate and tricky Les Melzer, well before he arrived here. Les has been traveling overseas for a while now misrepresenting himself as some sort of spokesperson or representitive of the Aboriginal and Islander people of Australia. Les has stated that he, Has A Mandate. This is “ABSOLUTE CRAP.” He has been encouraged by the Aboriginal Victim Industry ( A.V.I. ) including ANTaR ( qld ) and associates.

What were his views on the U.Ns poverty levels ? ie. one dollar ($1) a day, as everyone get’s a minum thirty dollars ( $30 ) a day here on the dole. With Fifty Eight (58) venues for free and nourishing food including BBQs and hot meals in the inner city Brisbane alone!

(A US health care system perhaps, and a very, very, selective system of sanctions against proven human rights violations)

MPM - Zero credibility still earns a lot financial support for the UN from the worlds richest nations- even if they are a bit late with the payments.

Look, this is a complicated issue, and I think there is something positive about getting a nudge from someone from the UN, so the Gov to stops wringing its hands and winds back some of the most repugnant measures of the ‘emergency response’. Let’s not get all haughty about it. We know about failure of UN to be hard on those that don’t do as they say, but that is no reason to re-assemble a motley cheer squad for Bolton and the Dubberya Bush regime.

J-boy like myself believes the push back to this shouldn’t be focussed on the UN. I think it should be more on the government’s need to get serious about some community focused and community engaged programs that are not cookie cutter solutions for the original Australians; rather, programs that take into account the many separate motivations of tribal indigenous peoples, giving back their respect by engaging in their world view and taking on their criticisms of past failings, allowing dignity to prevail for all of us under a secure contract of equality of rights and sanctity of original possession - where demonstrated.

I reckon this would prevent more of these guilt ridden knee jerk reactions like the “emergency response” where the dire needs of indigenous people are suddenly recognised, but just for a political moment, only to be forgotten again.

It certainly is by all clear thinkers the world over.

This represents an indictment of the UN not that any more are necessary.

Any intervention will take generations to have a material affect on the blights now facing Aborignial society.

They won’t be fixed by next Thursday week as is the demand of mouth-for-hire career public officials like James Anaya.
