“such as intensive-care unit sedation for incubated, mechanically ventilated adults” I’m not a doctor or nurse but I think you mean ‘intubated’ as in tube down the throat to deliver machanical ventilation.

After reading the full report from the coroners office, it is somewhat amazing Jackson lasted as long as he did. The different drugs he was taking in some type of cocktail ie: many different drugs over a period of hours daily, the fact his hands and feet were covered in needle marks, the number of doctors who were supplying him under at least a dozen different alias, that thin boney frame showed remarkable resiliance. CNN in a very full report on the drugs and their effects, learned that propofol (Diprivan)when administered in an operating theatre situation stops the heart, and must be activated again by the aneasthetists assistant by means of a pumping action through a balloon type apparatus. Not much use Dr Conrad going for a pee while his patient is unconcious and stops breathing. Of course this Dr Jekyll had no formal training or experience with the drug professionally. He is a neurologist. One would imagine he is in deep doo doo, he and his mates, who supplied Jackson with heaven knows what else. Interesting to also note he made 3 phone calls on his mobile to not revealed persons, inbetween the 999 call and the arrival of the medics. The courts and lawyers are going to dine out on this.

There was a recall of propofol in the US by the FDA after Michael Jackson’s death. It may have nothing to do with it. Jackson died on 25 June, the recall was announced on 16 July. But there may have been contamination in earlier batches. The problem was only picked up after patient reactions.

Two batches of propofol were contaminated with an endotoxin (a toxic component of some bacteria). If Jackson had been on an IV drip containing propofol with an endotoxin going into his system, then that could have killed him, without there being an actual drug overdose. Of course, a medico giving propofol for insomnia is extremely reckless and unprofessional.

‘July 16, 2009 – Teva Pharmaceuticals USA issues a voluntary user-level nationwide recall of Propofol Injectable Emulsion 10 mg/ml 100 ml vials, lot numbers 31305429B and 31305430B… Adverse health effects, such as fever, chills, or rigors, are possible with exposure to product with elevated levels of endotoxins. Serious adverse effects, such as disseminated intravascular coagulopathy, acute respiratory distress syndrome, shock and death are possible with exposure to product with high endotoxin levels.’
