Thanks Greg. A few years back, Craig Hamilton of ABC Grandstand came clean on his battle with the BD on during a regular rugby league broadcast on ABC Radio. We need to remove the stigma of speaking about this (men, in particular, that is). Good one.

Greg,
You logged into me. Vitality ... umm how do you do that? You just did with that piece, and it reminded me how to keep doing it myself. Thanks.

Well done Greg to publicise the feelings that so many of us feel on a regular and agonising basis. My way of coping is to accept the depression hits like any physical pain or twinge, which is just nerve-ends sending self- protective messages to the brain. Just as the pain or twinge will ultimately pass, as will the mental pain and anguish - and try not to dwell on the expectation of the downward spiral into that bottomless desparate suicidal pit of despair and paranoia.

Greg may I recommend a book that helped me, Depression and how to survive it by Spike Milligan and Dr Anthoney Clare. I found this to be a great help in my worst days. It is a biography of Spike Milligan's depression and a history of treatment.

Food for thought
