I think you've got it about right Sophie.
Both these atrocities deserved equal time for the booby prize this week.
Let's hope media watch gives them both a serve.

I recall a Judge saying from the bench(among other things)that if the 'victim' asked her rapist to put on a condom it wasn't rape. Then recently we heard another judge state, that as the woman ended up losing consciousness, it was only a "technical" rape. Let's keep in mind what the law says is rape, in NSW anyway. Unless there's clear consent(too hard to make if "unconscious")then the sexual activity should cease -if it doesn't that's sexual assault.

ACA should know, that so-called 'evidence' from third or fourth parties(the cousin and the aunt) is classified as 'inadmissable evidence' as it's only 'heresay', and not admissable in a court of law. It's obvious that they only wanted to drag out a situation that was at best imprudent and at worst, disgraceful exploitation of a minor, and probably illegal. Also, the events/crimes/victims of minors is not admissable to be discussed by the media. There are stringent rules pertaining to any photos, names etc, that could reveal the identity of the victim. Obviously channel 9 was not interested in the welfare of 'Rachel' only in their grotty ratings.

As for the incident that involved the RL player and Sally Robinson. That's before the Court now, and it's irresponsible for the media to try and milk some sensationalism out of it to sell papers or whatever. The case hopefully will be decided on the evidence and testimony. The Herald Sun is obviously not concerned about the whole issue of DV, only about milking a very sad situation to sell papers. The RL people involved disgusted me by their concerns for the player, the game, their public image blah blah! Not one word about their concern for Ms Robinson! I'm not surprised! Disgusted, yes!

I refuse to watch either current affairs programs on channels 9 & 7; in fact I don't watch any commercial channels for news or current affairs - just for the very examples here. They're just grotty, only interested in sensationalism, and provide no education or entertainment value in my view. Allison, you'd be better to follow suit!

Thank you Crikey ! I actually rang up Channel 9 as that piece of rubbish was being broadcast to explain that they had lost a viewer for life (not that I actually put channel 9 on but sometimes the Husband finds the remote first). When I asked to make a complaint the woman on the switch said she could take the complaint and then said bye, when I asked if I could could explain why I wanted to complain I got a sigh and yes well? I was not asked for my contact details and got the very firm impression that Channel 9 could not give a fig about my views. I think your article manages to articulate all my concerns with the piece of rubbish that A Current Affair aired. The "aunts" need a kick in teh tuchas for their deep concern for their niece.
