When I was in Mendoza, Argentina in 2002 I saw graffiti of piggy bankers after the currency crashed under the recent crook president and his model wife (look out Sarkozy). Later I read about Mike Smith (now in Australia heading up ANZ) who had a lucky escape in the riots there in the capital a few years earlier.

Mendoza was way in the west near the Andes and quiter city but even so a roadblock stopped the tourist bus and the police arrived as guardians with shiny double barrels. Later on the local teachers 'revolted' in the western style shopping mall. Well actually it was a moderate rally.

That graffiti was a cute likeness, eh Mike. It read something like - don't let them treat us like animals.

A real pity my camera was not up to the job, couldn't get the right batteries there in Latin land for the good one, so I never got an image. Did better later on Europe with the artwork on the Berlin Wall and murals in (Nth) Ireland. And monkey critters in Gibralter. Australian dollar was tracking like 52c to US dollar back then. Ouch.
