Make your own fizzy drink!

We’re impressed at Make magazine’s guide to making your own soft drink from scratch. Sure it has us thinking that getting a bottle off the shelf is easier, but it’s an impressive thing — and cuts down on sugar.

err..not strictly soft drink. The other byproduct of the reaction demonstrated here will be alcohol. Though after just one day the alcohol content will be low.

    As a rough guide:

Decrease in total weight of sugar (grams) x 2.1075
     —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  —  — -
    Days of fermentation

    This is also useful:

    Alcohol yield co-efficient = % alcohol
