Yes, three of your items, RF, and your comments Paul, lead to a concern my “circle” - such as it is - has discussed a bit recently. This is the loss of the tough, intelligent, patient journalist’s articles, garnered through hard work rather than re-aggregation, but often revealing the underlying issues that the providers of the new primary material omit from their releases.

We feel governments and authorities and businesses engaging in snide behaviour, or simple bastar-ry, are getting a free run, cf, times of yore.

Or don’t editors and proprietors want real news sheets any more?

This, I can say from the depths of senility, will be the end of them!!

RE ‘Journalists are all just aggregators most of the time’.

If this is true, then methinks that ‘newpapers’ will be hanged with a temporal noose.

Until a Kindle-like reader becomes mainstream, the web will win - especially when you can access realtime updates on important issues from your phone.

Why pay for ‘old’ news when ‘new’ news can be found online?
