Gallileo is not done and dusted at all.

A couple of months ago, if you went to the church set into the Thermes just by Rome’s main railway station, you would have found an exhibition on Gallileo. If you go by the exhibition you will discover the really important thing about the Church’s relationship with Gallileo.

It is the deliberate attempt in the exhibition by the Church to ‘own’ Gallileo as a ‘believer’.

You see, the Church was really right all along.

Answer to Phyllida Ives, the qualification requirements vary from Parliament to Parliament but generally you get the title after a certain length of service, if you become a Minister or if you are elected to an upper house (but I don’t think this applies to the Federal Senate).

If you want to see some forgetting of the past, John Taylor, check out Christian Kerr’s various hartiganesque diatribes on online media in the Oz. I agree with you about Kerr/Bray’s lasting contribution to Crikey. His tragedy is that his ideal format is a 150 word piece in the online media he now scorns. As many of his Oz ‘wry side’ pieces demonstrate, he’s more or less incapable of writing a well-structured full-length freestyle article.
