Richard Wilkins mocked on Colbert Report

Ragging on Richard Wilkins is not just for Australians anymore, as Stephen Colbert and actor Jeff Goldblum mock his Today show cock-up where he announced Goldblum’s death.

My favourite Richard Wilkins error, apart from the greatest game show ever- Keynotes!, is when for an April fools day joke triple j ran a story on their breakfast news that due to the slowness of infrastructure the olympics have been taken off Sydney.

Mr Wilkins reported it on Nine

as Stephen Colbert and actor Jeff Goldblum mocks …”

It should be “mock” - plural.

It wasn’t so long ago John Howard was featured on the Colbert Report over his remarks about an Obama win being a win for terrorists. He’s in good gaffe company there.

What a complete goose Wilkins is. At no time did New Zealand police confirm Jeff Goldblum’s “death”. A simple phonecall to New Zealand police would have discovered this. Wilkins is such a good reporter he doesn’t bother to confirm, in the simplest of ways, any of his “news flashes”. There’s one born every minute but I think for ten minutes before Wilkin’s birth none was born so he had to make up for it.

Jeremy, They did not at any stage announce or confirm Goldblum’s “death”. Given he was not even in the country at the time, how could they.

Jeremy, you can google it easy enough - Crikey didn’t work for me either.

Uh - look above at the URL. They got the show wrong at first (TDS instead of TCR).
