RobG - exactly what i was going to say. Gazan - how much more “open’ can the market be? But in the hands of…by definition criminals. Imagine if those nice people at Philip Morris or VB could regulate it.

I thought the UN kept up the “War on Drugs” to keep the US happy, as the US provides lots of UN money. Is this the problem or do they really believe the silly idea of a “War”?

There can be no doubt that illegal drugs will always be available to people who really want them but I wonder about the young person who stumbles on drugs & decides to take them out of curiosity or bravado. If drugs becone legally available then surely the opportunity to drag people into the net of addiction will increase? If Barns argues that because prohibition has killed off drug trade we should open up the market then he is misguided.
