I understand Melburnians’ senstivity at being a branch office of Sydney, Geelong’s sensitivity at being a branch office of Melbourne, Tourquay’s reluctance to be an outpost of Geelong, etc.

But surely rationalising bureaux is an obvious efficiency that Fairfax should have achieved in the distance past when the Age and the Sydney Morning Herald were first included in the same group.

What about icon Michelle Grattan for The Age - that journo is a class act. Sydney has got nothing on her demonstrated daily on ABC Radio National pre 7.45 am. But what I really think is that Big Press journos and their executives are all overpaid, especially the latter. Or I am woefully underpaid. Or the truth is somewhere in the middle perhaps.
