Should that person who got done over by the agent wish to pursue it, and they can back the claims, then they should go to the Fair Trading Authority. By law, the agent is obliged to market a property to the full advantage of the vendor and must fully communicate all offers to the vendor. In addition, the description of the process suggests that the agent's claim that the property was "sold" is not true. Up to the exchange of contracts (about ten days after offer and acceptance) a property is still legally on the market, must be presented for sale and is open to further offers, which (to repeat) must be forwarded to the vendor.

Go for it.

Re. political staffers, bankers and other self-appointed "very important persons" using electronic equipment and mobile phones when they're not supposed to - smoking on flights is banned and anyone caught lighting up on a plane is subject to a fine. I don't understand why using electronics on planes at inappropriate and unsafe times is not also an offence. Maybe it's because the pollies are the worst offenders?

Hmm so Im supposed to feel sorry for someone whos buying a house for 1.15M in Sydneys anglo-white bread heartland. Try tipping off on someone whos getting kicked out of their place because the landlord has upped the rent exponentially

That tip about Jetstar appears to be the start of the end of advertising-free spaces. http://www.brandrepublic.asia/Media/newsarticle/2009_06/Sunsilk-partners-with-Jetstar-Asia/35931 has the story of the launch, along with this hilarious quote from Jetstar Asia's CEO who sees it as a win-win for Sunsilk & passengers:

“One need not miss new product launches now even while during air travel,” he commented.

Of all my anxieties about air travel, this was a fair way down the list.
