I’m begging to differ. QT this week was a breath of fresh air. After years of puritanical overload and MPs slumped despondently on benches like pussy bows in stuffed shirts the vision of jovial Joe, boom-boom Baldwin and whacko Wilson enjoying themselves for once sent public interest in politics soaring. The joie de vivre of parliamentary camaraderie was back as pollies and policies enjoyed spirited and open exchange while an inspired nation looked on. That is until resident wet blanket Julie Bishop said it demonized the memory of Ho-hum Howard who bored the nation to sobs and killed off the Coalition! Yes she’d egged on Joe Hockey and his banner- unfurling stunt but Kevin had no right to show the same spirited camaraderie. Jim Killen, Fred Daley and the chicken-suited Bruce Goodluck earned admiration and affection for showing their human side as makers of people-friendly policies. I’m convinced Bishop, Pyne and Costello are in the wrong business.

The two most embarrassing parts of so-called Question Time has been the fact that visiting dignitaries from other normal countries witness the ridiculous charade called the Australian National Government made worse by the rash of ‘Moanies’ repeatedly announced by the Prime Minister who is not illiterate - believe it or not. Where’s you Oxford Kevin?
