Dunno who was actually enraged but judging by the comments at the Blair blog, where the thing got most of its momentum, enraging PC liberals seemed to the point of the exercise.

As a paid up member of the wingnutsphere I too am aghast that someone would spend $AUD1,000,000 to prevent their birth certificate from being viewed; given that that is one of the few prerequisites of being US president. One wonders why it hasn't played out much bigger in the US media. One cannot see Brit journalists lying back and thinking of, well er, anything else if they were in a similar position, as the UK parliamentary rorts exposure has shown. Aussie journalists I believe would have joined their US cousins as a similar exposure of "snouts in the trough" political excess has shown a closing of ranks with " they do work so hard and deserve all they get" attitude shows. Perhaps with fewer journos they want to preserve their access to sources and er, rorts such as accompanying pollies on their, er, rorts, sorry education trips.
