When Rudd campaigned against Howard, the impasse over the Murray-Darling rescue, together with many of the problems and inadequacies apparent in the various State Labor administrations were attributed to Howard's alleged tactic of pursuing the 'blame' game with the States.
Rudd and Gillard made much of their determination to end this terrible 'Tory' injustice and ensure that, with their new approach of respect and co-operation, Federal-State relations would enter a new era.
Well a Springborg win will 'spook' the horses and throw an ever more searching 'spotlight' on Labor's inadequacies.
Already, of course, we have seen South Australia initiate High Court action against fellow Labor colleagues in Victoria, whom Howard always contended were putting their political agenda before the national interest in relation to a Murray Darling agreement. Mike Rann just realised the same thing. This says much about Brumby, but also Gillard and Rudd and their 'spin'
Bur 'spin' only gets you so far! Anna Bligh will find that out dramaticaly tonight.
