A really chilling account. I felt your rising tension and fear. So glad you got out safely.

I was listening to 774 until 5 am and enjoying the cool change in Adelaide after 12 days with an average temperature of 105.6 and no-one had any idea what had happened.

People were phoning the station from all over the country and there was simply no news to report.

It was like living in the twilight zone when I woke on Sunday afternoon to hear that so many towns had been obliterated.

I'm glad that you and Peter and Peril made it out safely!
Sorry about our FoodWorks store being closed early, but you will be happy to know that all my staff made it out safely in the end! All are now homeless, only one staff member got away in her car with her sons, and the others spent the night on Gallipoli Park as the town burnt around them! One of my junior staff members mother and brother died in the fire, while her older brother and father were on the local CFA truck saving houses and lives! We are going to rebuild our FoodWorks store, and all our staff are coming back to rebuild there lives and homes, we are one big family, and our love for each other, and our town and our customers will reflect this! I hope that your friends will rebuild there home, and that they are safe and well, it will be wonderful too see you one day, in our new store so please come in and say hello :)

Full of suspense and foreboding. Well done leaving safely. 4 Corners last night would have scared you all over again.
