So we have to be bloody smart as the math’s is booby trapped with square roots and exponential functions.
In response to Lionel's article I said this and I repeat.
I have seen government organizations and departments, state & federal, in medicine do and perpetrate such scientifically stupid things that cost over 10,000 lives annually (counted by independent international experts) none as dramatic as the loss of life we have seen in the fires and easily swept under the rug (why, you didn’t even know did you) and police commissioner’s leave because some nutter in major crime has successfully p-ssed and f-rted into all the right desk drawers at head office (figuratively).
What is so tragic about major organisational behaviour seriously flunking is the extraordinary valuable good of which they are also capable.
Your example is essential, we the people have to be responsible and personal vigilance is the price of guarantee.
Actually there are forests that were never firestick farmed by the Indigenous like Goolengook in East Gippsland. How do we know? Because there are tree ferns as tall as a 3 story house. See my blog for a pic, via Tony Hastings. They don't like fire. Ergo no regular burning.

But don't take my word for it, John Benson botanical scientist as Sydney Royal Bot Gardens has written a scientific paper along the same lines - says depends on the location, often uncertain what pattern was applied etc. There's good reason to try and deduce but it's tedious and wrong to simply assert the Indigenous did it everywhere or assume how much or when. It's not rational or science. Some plants germinate via fire, some don't. Ask the experts is the real answer and be site specific.

The idea somewhere (not this story) of getting Black fellas from up north is just so far off beam as to hardly require an answer. This is like asking Italians to speak Flemish. Wrong climate, wrong culture group, wrong environment etc.

But as I said above on Clive's story, and I gave fair warning last week. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. After 5 decades fo loggers targeting first rainforest then wet old growth forest types they got their wish mega fire central via skinny regrowth in 90-95% of the forest estate. Those 300 dead people many of green pursuasion should not die for nothing. Those loggers and their apologists should take what's coming to them. They've had their 'fun' insulting and baiting the greens for a situation they created.

Now we will see via the Royal Commission and the court of broad public opinion. Those deaths say the greens have no where to hide, but neither do the loggers.
