God you're a killjoy Ruth.
Melbourne finally gets some weather that's truly spectacular, rather than merely "changeable, and you want to deal out a wankley.

On a more serious note. The appalling coverage of a child's death on the Westgate bridge is far more deserving of a collective "kick in the nuts" to the media than this harmless nonsense.
As usual Crickey today is running the earth is melting line and knocking Andrew Bolt.

Because its bloody hot in Melbourne and Adelaide, it does not mean that the whole earth is melting. Hasn't the good old USA had record cold snap, and bloody Europe is cold also.

The hard stats show that in the last 10 years the earth is cooler.

So bring on Rudds ETS , and lets all pay 100% more in electricity costs ( we will all be tacking out loans soon to pay for Utilities and Rates)

I am Australian born but this country has becopme a bloody Joke - the Unions running the states, electricity down, hospitals and infrasctructure in crisis - whose fault - the States of course - get rid of them and have Regional Governments . In regard to Health, bring back Hospital Boards to run Hospitals ( they were banned in Queensland 10 years ago)

I think that the Melbourne based organisation Crikey might6 be in for a Wankley award of its own. Adelaide has had more and better hot weather and its press have been totally over the top. There have been suburbs all over the city losing power just as the temperature hovers for days in the mid 40s. Melbourne based should not mean Melbourne one eyed.

When are the deciples of Andrew Bolt going to get it through their thick skulls that global climate change does not mean universally higher temperatures all the time?

It means more energy transfer into the global climate system which in turn means more frequent extreme weather events, including snow storms and increased rainfall where it is not wanted and drought where rainfall is wanted.

Also they quote temperature averages over the last few years or 10 years as having fallen. But if weather stats are considered over many decades then there has been an increase in average temperature. Changes in temperature averages over 10 or a few years is not statistically significant when compared to averages over several decades.

Andrew Bolt and his deciples are engaging in a spin campaign to misrepresent the facts and figures as proof for their own opinion.
