Just to add that in the case of the Hebrew speaking Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish, Al Jazeera via the net have been running a story at least since yesterday morning that the Israeli journalist taking the call not just pulled the earpiece and left the tv set but the camera followed him into his office, working his contacts, getting an IDF clearance for an ambulance to go to the house 'against all expectation' and retrieve still living wounded daughters.

Then when the doctor well known to viewers gave a press conference still grieving the death of 3 children and a niece, he was shouted at by two IDF supporters accusing him of harbouring weapons at his home. His blank frozen speechless expression then eventually words back "they don't want to know the truth", not in anger but complete resignation perhaps, is an expression I won't forget for a long time. Those two harrassers clearly running interference on the doctor (English, Hebrew and Arabic speaker?) capacity to tell his story and put a human dimension to the Palestinian victims were just at that time about the two ugliest people in the world to me.

Suggests

1. the Israeli journalist taking the phone call was a true humanitarian who did his duty even breaking the coverage to do so

2. The crowd of Israelis politely listening to doctor's press conference later had open hearts

3. Some in the IDF do have the capacity to assist Palestinian civilians if only they choose to and think it's in their PR interests and lastly

4.For some or maybe even many Israelis they are as mad and blinded by prejudice as any Hamas 'terrorist'.

5. There is a very worrying pattern, perhaps of elements in the IDF, who take any humanitarian voice for the Palestinians, UN or civillian, as a red bullseye to be destroyed. This doctor was a rare Hebrew speaker with clout in the Israeli audience. 10 months on tv. He warned of his location and the IDF are so proud of their skills. The onus is on the IDF to prove he was NOT targeted.

Ha'aretz Magazine, 8 October 2004 - Dov Weisglass, counsel to Ariel Sharon in an interview with Ari Shavit.
I still don't see how the disengagement plan helps here. What was the major importance of the plan from your point of view?
"The disengagement plan is the preservative of the sequence principle. It is the bottle of formaldehyde within which you place the president's formula so that it will be preserved for a very lengthy period. The disengagement is actually formaldehyde. It supplies the amount of formaldehyde that's necessary so that there will not be a political process with the Palestinians."

Effectively, this whole package that is called the Palestinian state, with all that it entails, has been removed from our agenda indefinitely. And all this with authority and permission. All with a presidential blessing and the ratification of both houses of Congress. What more could have been anticipated? What more could have been given to the settlers?"

http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article21781.htm
Daniel: thanx for the advice. A few years ago I would've shared your view.

I do contribute financially to the Palestinian cause, and marched in Sydney on Sunday.

However, my experience is that violent bullies understand only one message.

Regretably, unless there is a circuit breaker to this issue soon, there will be a limited nuclear war in the Middle East...exactly when I can't predict......but it will happen unless the fascist Israelis are brought to heal.

However, I don't believe even the US is capable of controlling Israel...appeasement did not work against Hitler's Nazis & it won't work against the Israeli NAZIS.

Only a schism in the IDF will bring Israel to the negotiating table anytime soon....and I'm not holding my breath for that.

I do contribute financially to the Palestinian cause, and marched in Sydney on Sunday.

However, my experience is that violent bullies understand only one message.

Regretably, unless there is a circuit breaker to this issue soon, there will be a limited nuclear war in the Middle East…exactly when I can’t predict……but it will happen unless the fascist Israelis are brought to heal.

However, I don’t believe even the US is capable of controlling Israel…appeasement did not work against Hitler’s Nazis & it won’t work against the Israeli NAZIS.

Only a schism in the IDF will bring Israel to the negotiating table anytime soon….and I’m not holding my breath for that.

That last paragraph is the best so far from you Daniel.

Here's hoping we don't have to endure another 500 inane posts before the next good sentence.

Kevboy isn't just a naughty boy...... soothing entreaties will not work.

He needs intravenous Thorazine in veterinary doses........

Woah there Kevin, chillax broseph.

Instead of being a big ole negative nancy and boycotting Israeli goods, why not be a bit more positive and donate some money to any worthwhile charity such as Medical Aid for Palestinians or the Oxfam Gaza fund?

You can even make a game of it and donate 10 bucks every time JamesK posts something reprehensible, although you might be on the streets begging within a day.
