All indications are the Queensland conservatives like being in Opposition and intend to stay there. Term after term Beattie offered them government on a platter with his strife-torn administrations clocking up every kind of crisis you can imagine. From electricity, education, health, water, transport, law and order to indigenous and disability services the state crumbled as spades of MPs and public officials were either sent to the CMC, courts or jails. And last week when news leaked of 200 dangerous sex offenders being released on to Queensland streets without rehabilitation the Borg hops on a cycle to announce millions for off-road trail bike riders. For Queenslanders it’s a bit like swapping Howard for Bush – same poison. When the electorate is too lazy to demand better it should revoke the poll and use election funds on their state of decay.
