That's a disgrace.<br /><br />It's looking more and more like craven Wag the Dog election politics. I have a simple rule in politics which has proven very trustworthy. It's like Occams Razor - take the most direct and simple explanation for what's going on. Is there a power grab underway? Or land grab? Is there votes to be won in a contest? Is there ambition to be slaked? Is there money to be made?<br /><br />These are the usual motives of politicians. <br /><br />Maybe these politicians, like Nixon famously before, can run the sincere pose because they've started believing their own distortions. No wonder Paul McGeogh at Fairfax has that exceedingly world weary take on proceedings. It's heavily justified. It’s looking more and more like craven Wag the Dog election politics. I have a simple rule in politics which has proven very trustworthy. With Israel's banning of Arab parties in the February elections and making it known that they wish the Arabs would just go away says to me the Israelis have very, very short memories and yet they don't want the world to forget the holocaust. <br />I doubt the world will forget Israel's treatment of the Palestinians and their vulnerable children.
