A clever and original discussion. Well done.
Generally my eyes are glazing over with the debate which feels more and more like Y2K.
It’s hard to just come through the coldest and wettest November in 30 years and blame it on global warming.

I agree with your assessment of the discussion, but not with your following comments.

You should also realise that Y2K was real for a significant proportion of computer systems and that billions of dollars was spent on remedying real problems so the world did not fall in a heap on Jan 1 2000.

You are also confusing weather with climate and local with global.

Sure there are 'chicken littles', but that doesn't mean the sky isn't falling. The Great Barrier Reef will be severely degraded regardless of temperature rises, due to sediment/nutrient runoff in the short term and ocean acidification from atmospheric CO2 increases in the long term.
