There are a bunch of reasons for the different reactions to the deaths, and some key differences between the police in each country, but the similarities in each case are important too. Most crucially, both police departments need to ask themselves how such cases can be avoided in the future. Why and how the Victorian government has allowed this terrible record of killing citizens with mental health issues to accumulate is beyond me. The Victorian police force&#039;s reputation was terrible years ago, yet little has changed.</description>
