Oh heaven help us. In fact anyone with sway please stave off another ALP win in Queensland. If only you could convince Queenslanders to vote in a candidate with the best credentials as opposed to or including a Party-endorsed candidate would improve the standard of what's there now. If the state electorate knew the cost so far of a hapless Beattie/Bligh partnership they'd move 1: to any other state and 2: leave a postal vote at this stage for an Indepent or anyone other than an ALP candidate.

The NSW Labor government has serious form in badly treating Housing Department tenants and may one day find itself in serious legal trouble. Whilst all tenants must sign a lease under which they are required to perform certain obligations, like pay rent on time and consider their neighburs etc, the department itself is extremely lax in keeping it's side of the contract.

In fact probabably 100% of tenants would have a long list of failures of the Housing Dept in maintaining properties as required in leases.

Indeed, various Federal housing ministers during Howard's reign went to great lengths to re-assure tenants that the harsh conditions the NSW government continualy threatened tenants with, were not federal Coalition poliiy. I personally had to continually re-assure various pensioner public tennant groups that they were secure and was thankfully assisted many times by Coaltion MP's in this task.

This continued bullying by NSW Labor seems to be a way of covering up their own inadequacies-ie: keep tenants in a permanant state of fear and loathing and they will back off demanding the Housing Dept fulfills it's obligations.

And that is why you get the former creepy Housing Minister Matt Brown ,himself a slum landlord, telling state tenants that "housing was a privilege, not a right" which is the sort of soul destroying statement that ensures those on the lowest rung stay there.

In contrast, Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore reverses the statement and says 'housing is a right not a privilege" and continues to get massive local support and increased votes whilst actually taking positive measures to assist tenants.
