Do we have evidence here of an emerging split in the federal cabinet? A potentially damaging rift between the Prime Minister and his Treasurer?

Kevin Rudd spent much of his valuable Sunday media time yesterday urging Australians to get out there this Christmas and spend, spend, spend:

I urge families and pensioners who have been doing it tough to spend their payments in a responsible way to make their Christmas all the more special and also do their bit to support the economy and jobs as well.
