The ‘mainstream’ media doesn’t mention the toppling of a ‘leading’ news outlet! What nonsense. Stories were out on australian.com before the Crikey stories, and on ABC and SBS news bulletins last night. Regardless, blogging is now so mainstream and the traditional news media have embraced the online platform that these old divisions (new media/old media etc) are no longer valid.

Fairfax is possibly crumbling because it can’t financially or adequately support the national demand for news, entertainment and knowledge. It also explains why the mainstream media doesn’t mention the toppling of a leading news outlet. How remarkably sad. Thanks to Crikey for advising of the disintegration of the Fairfax empire as we know it and insighting a growing suppression of news, information and entertainment in a country that so badly needs the benefits of widespread communication resources.
