Speaking of names, Sarah Palin and Ronald Reagan-it was indeed Sarah Palin who pushed her children forward for political advantage and in the true fashion of the hypocritical Christian Right whose interests she represented, claimed when it emerged that her unwed teenage daughter was pregnant that it was a ‘blessed event’.
On the other hand, Ronald Regan said he had a word for the similar actions of a teenager-‘promiscuous’.

I don’t agree with Marcus Vernon on the Palin children. The were planted centre stage by their mother who made them part of her campaign. I was distressed every time I saw the baby being exposed to screaming convention and campaign crowds, especially as he usually seemed comatose rather than asleep, but Sarah was the one who put him there. I also felt sorry for the pregnant teenage daughter, and if SP had left them all quietly at home I’m confident the media would have had only a passing interest in them. You have to admit their names are pretty bizarre, even for America - though I feel SP missed a great naming opportunity when she overlooked Moose for one of the boys.

Sarah Palin used her own children as props for her right wing nut baggery. She used the baby to claim she is so pro-life that she "chose" to have a baby with Down's - implying that there is inherently something wrong with having a baby with Down's but ignoring the fact that under US law she and other women have had the choice since Roe V Wade in 1973.

She used that lovely young girl Bristol to pretend she is the salt of the earth and the right wing nut bags who attacked other young, pregnant and unmarried girls as harlots and sluts for the last 20 years thought Bristol was a wonder to behold, because again the dopey abortion thing came up. Too bad about the shot gun wedding of a child to a boy who hates kids and describes himself as a redneck.

Then she used her son to support the invasion of Iraq. She claimed expenses for their travel that the state had to pay for, logged thousands in clothing for the lot of them and generally was pretty disgraceful.

And Martin Gordon, what a hypocrite you are. You want every old hawk in the world on the Obama team and would put Howard and his cronies there if you could.
