John O'hara as you insist on having the bad grace to give your version of the opera house story to everybody who'd print it including the Canberra times here goes

the main problem with space is theatres were put in sideways. the orignal design saw them facing across the shells. If my plumber put my toilet in that way i'd kick him (sorry Mark). the backstage for the concert hall is so bad that the choir walk on individually unlke any other concert hall anywhere.

the trendy design as you call it was plywoods and innovative and under test when davis hughes pulled the plug.

instead we got lecture theatre layout and lots of concrete. government architect stuff. just like maquarie uni.

it even smells like the main theatre at Macqarie uni.

a real Askin government corrupt mess and a massive waste.

The Opera House and what happened in relation to the construction and Utzon vs. the govt appointed architects will always be a contentious issue with a lot of conflicting view points with hear say and conjecture.

I, as a relative of one of the govt appointed architects, know a bit about what happened behind the scenes.

I thank John O'Hara for his comments. Its been 10 years since my second cousin died. I know he would have loved to have seen what the Opera House has become to all Australians, and the reputation it has around the world, not to mention the world heritage listing that it was given in 2007.
