This is what you would expect from one of the 600+ media/spin doctors that Bligh's dictatorship employs. Just because the Cm doesn't put things the way you want doesn't mean they're wrong, and they really don't act as an unpaid PR firm for the (occasional) opposition. Perhaps if we better government from your rpevious master we wouldn't have stories such as the one you have found so offensive. And as for "at least that way Joe Punter's going to hear some of what you're saying." - give me a break. All you hear is a Minister staying "on message" and avoiding answering questions in detail.

"No-one reads the Courier anyway -- get the Minister to talk to the Sunday Mail and the regional dailies in the meantime. Time much better spent." Yeah, right. Some of us do read the CM, usually between the lines, the SM is joke and our regional daily that you seem so enamoured with is a liner looking for a budgie cage. Come out and play in the real world, away from your George St latte-filtered environment

So you think influencing and spinning the media is some big deal to get all hot and sweaty about?

The Yanks worked out years ago how to buy the media and ensure it stays bought. Australians have a lot to lear, They created the Council of Foreign Relations (CFR). It's task is to ensure sheeple don't catch on. Sedate them with sport, celebrity, faux news and mindless pap. If they do momentarily awaken, soothingly tell them it's all a conspiracy - so go back to sleep little darlings. Go back to sleep.

http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=JPlvdSQ6cAM&eurl=
As a radio journo who tried and failed for years to get succinct well articulated grabs from Qld Government Ministers I'm not surprised they resort to written responses to Courier Mail inquiries. The former Premier was a well-known clam on facts regularly ringing up with a diatribe of circuitous rubbish BEFORE his press release was out!. Stories went begging of course which was the precise intent. And trying to turn out a 15-second voicer minus ums, ahs and the embarassing rounded nasal Aussie accents that droned on about the same old regurgitated topics the party hacks would annually circulate from their year before files fostered total abandonment of government-related news. Qld MPs need a solid education and intense media training and pigs might fly.
