What is astounding about the covert procedure used to shut down ANAM in order to forward it's remains to Melbourne University is that Peter Garrett made the decision without consulting ANY recognised experts in the classical music field. He couldn't have, they were all busy signing the petition opposing his decision. It's no wonder he's doing his best to avoid answering questions about this. One might have thought he'd have the decency to explain his decision to the dedicated ANAM staff. They have now found themselves the unwitting victims of an existentialist nightmare worthy of Kafka for they have been found guilty of an unspecified crime by an invisible jury and, as punishment, they've had the academy they've spent years nurturing, forcibly removed from their care.
As Melbourne University now claims surprise at the decision and Peter Garrett refuses to elaborate on either the process or the identity of "the stakeholders" with whom he held discussions , we are left with an obvious question" How was a decision made at all? No-one in cabinet wants to have any knowledge of it and Melbourne University are clearly playing dumb.
Perhaps Peter Garrett would like to attend the final concert at ANAM this friday night. Not only would it be his last opportunity to see an ANAM concert, but it'd also be the first time he's ever bothered setting foot in the joint.

This is yet another installment in the series of blunders that we've come to know as "Peter Garrett's political career". The more I read about this ANAM business the more it stinks. What a God-awful mess. For goodness sake Peter. Whatever happened to transparency and accountability? It's what you spent 25 years demanding from our government as frontman for the Oils!
