I admit that “rat” might present me with a challenge in certain contexts. I’ll see how I feel when it happens. You are of course allowed to refer to the fact of Brandis having called Howard a lying rodent (does it have the status of “fact”?), but you’re not allowed to exploit it to dodge the rule. “Krudd” is not allowed.

Get over the nonsense. A surplus is meant for a rainy day, this is a rainy day.

Many of our fellow Australian’s roared with approval when Ruddock and Howard locked thousands of innocent people in concentration camps in the desert, tortured them and gave them numbers.

They cheered even louder when 353 refugees drowned, they positively salivated with joy when small Bahktiyari kids were dragged from their beds in the middle of the night and brutally deported to the wrong country on false papers.

And thanks Justin. If I was to rate the bottom feeders in the media and their reportage over the past year they would rate -10%.

The only thing that has got people saying Rudd has done good is this wretched “financial crisis.” Until then he was looking very ordinary as he “swanned” around making spurious word games about reviews etc etc. Suddenly he looks good???? Laurie Oakes says so - even Paul Kelly says so.

But as Arty quite rightly observes, “governments do not manage economies any more than surf-board riders manage the waves.” I like that!

Any day now we have Kev and Wayne sending out billions and billions of dollars to a limited sector of the community on the pretext that they are managing the economy, but really they are not doing anything for the economy itself - just massaging a few voters and making themselves look and feel good. Then another six Billion to the car industry - massaging a few more voters, but in fact just delaying the day when the car industry will finally crash. $300 million to local councils to win a few more votes without even having to account for it.

What has happened to the need to account to the parliament or the people? Seems no-one cares anymore.

Let’s just spend spend spend, then when there is no more to spend, find someone to fix up the mess. How sad!!

Maybe Glen Stevens is the only one getting it nearly right - but even he is wary of this Prime Minister and his vote winning ways.

Matthew Franklin also reported early in the year that Rudd was cancelling non-existent one off payments to pensioners and when I asked him about it he said he was well aware the story was bogus.

In America as in the US we have intelligent, driven people elected to do a job.

I miss Keating and love it everytime he bobs his head but will watch part 2 of the Howard years as they outline the disgusting 2001 election and the children not thrown.
