No problem with your article. In your article you used the word Ruddiversary, note the difference in the heading. You're not familiar with what Howard fans call our PM in the blogosphere in a derogatory manner?

Okay, I accept the challenge. Let's develop the Krudd list, and note I accept these are quite arguable:

1. CCS - that's legal liability scot free, $500M corporate welfare, aka carbon capture sequestration for King Coal. Just wait till they leak, and they will.

2. Forests - saying we will apply the science in Tas, East Gippsland then applying the politics. KRUDD!!!!

3. 2020 Summit - biased, choreographed, dishonest PR exercise to enhance the machine, not the polity?

4. Continuing to support suspension of the Racial Discrimination Act in the NT intervention - not only krudd but also ugly

5. Car industry bailouts - corporate welfare krudd, expensive krudd too

6. Solar sector going backwards? - that's kruddy policy folks.

7. North West heavy rail collapsed into a metro in Sydney, itself collapsed into a shuttle for Fairfax staffers Rozelle to CBD, as PM opens new office for SMH at Darling Island. That's krudd transport policy.

8. Got to admit $10B giveaway to stave off grey army of Liberal voting self funded retirees sounds like kruddy politics to me too. Why not cut the GST in half instead?

9. Grocery watch - krudd. 9. Petrol watch - krudd 10. marginalising Garnaut - krudd 11. foot dragging on Murray Darling - krudd. 12. foot dragging on national broadband network - you guessed it - Krudd.

No wonder he feels the need for the odd escape to South America. I did myself back in 2002.

Marilyn I certainly agree with you about Keating. Every time he speaks out he seems to get exactly right and makes me wish I had seen it so clearly for myself. His comments about gallopoli being
the most recent example

BK
This was posted by your fellow Crikey contributor on what is allowed when referring to pollies when we comment on his blog, Rodent is another term.

William Bowe
Posted Monday, November 24, 2008 at 10:58 pm | Permalink
I admit that “rat” might present me with a challenge in certain contexts. I’ll see how I feel when it happens. You are of course allowed to refer to the fact of Brandis having called Howard a lying rodent (does it have the status of “fact”?), but you’re not allowed to exploit it to dodge the rule. “Krudd” is not allowed.
Graeme, John Howard spent over $1 billion to lock up a few hundred people on Nauru, billions to bomb people to bits and we don't have a thing useful to show for the wastage.

Get over the nonsense. A surplus is meant for a rainy day, this is a rainy day.

Actually I have had a think about the nazi statement.

Many of our fellow Australian's roared with approval when Ruddock and Howard locked thousands of innocent people in concentration camps in the desert, tortured them and gave them numbers.

They cheered even louder when 353 refugees drowned, they positively salivated with joy when small Bahktiyari kids were dragged from their beds in the middle of the night and brutally deported to the wrong country on false papers.

Nazis? I reckon so.

And thanks Justin. If I was to rate the bottom feeders in the media and their reportage over the past year they would rate -10%.

Oh my God - Bernard you have absolutely blown your cover. But on a Birthday, I suppose anything goes.

The only thing that has got people saying Rudd has done good is this wretched "financial crisis." Until then he was looking very ordinary as he "swanned" around making spurious word games about reviews etc etc. Suddenly he looks good???? Laurie Oakes says so - even Paul Kelly says so.

But as Arty quite rightly observes, "governments do not manage economies any more than surf-board riders manage the waves." I like that!

Any day now we have Kev and Wayne sending out billions and billions of dollars to a limited sector of the community on the pretext that they are managing the economy, but really they are not doing anything for the economy itself - just massaging a few voters and making themselves look and feel good. Then another six Billion to the car industry - massaging a few more voters, but in fact just delaying the day when the car industry will finally crash. $300 million to local councils to win a few more votes without even having to account for it.

What has happened to the need to account to the parliament or the people? Seems no-one cares anymore.

Let's just spend spend spend, then when there is no more to spend, find someone to fix up the mess. How sad!!

Maybe Glen Stevens is the only one getting it nearly right - but even he is wary of this Prime Minister and his vote winning ways.

Marilyn - He had to find something to bang on about. It always amasses me that pro Rudd people don't get this. Everybody needs to find a negative, if the best they can come up with is irrelevant crap, it's not a cause to ridicule them for bottom-feeding. It's a cause to celibate!... there's nothing else to go at! ...

Very good except the inane dig at the G20 non-leaked phone call. For god's sake, the media gallery hacks need to get over that nonsense. The call happened on the 10th, the so-called story appeared on the 25th. Who the hell ever cared.

Matthew Franklin also reported early in the year that Rudd was cancelling non-existent one off payments to pensioners and when I asked him about it he said he was well aware the story was bogus.

In America as in the US we have intelligent, driven people elected to do a job.

I miss Keating and love it everytime he bobs his head but will watch part 2 of the Howard years as they outline the disgusting 2001 election and the children not thrown.
