The media are intimately involved and the story has been effectively belittled and killed for reasons other than the public good. Secondly diplomatically it is not in the Australia's interest for this incident to be properly examined.<br /><br />The issue is Rudd's character flaws, his dishonesty and his lack of judgement.<br /><br />He can count himself very fortunate to have escaped thus far very lightly.
