As Minister for Tourism Ms McKay recently got a feature story up in the News Corp Telegraph along the lines of needing more accomodation developement insided national parks, never mind the huge spaces available around them. The minister's pitch carefully avoided Packer's past proposal at Perisher in Kosciusko NP for 5 x The Toaster sized constructions (remember The Toaster scandal of proximity to the Opera House?).

Rather she was said it was about reasonable level of privacy and safety from "weird aggressive" types with "a conspiracy fetish". This was just before the Tony Stewart thing really went into melt down. Remember those words "weird aggressive". If that's not projection from the Minister of the a culture within the tribe onto hapless greenies then nothing is.

We couldn't help duly making rhetorical hay with a role call of rogues from the ALP who fitted the description, blogged it, and watched as the SMH virtually repeated the angle page 1, 3 days later. Parallel thoughts perhaps. Bet she won't quite use that formula of words to justify cracking the planning rules in national parks again for a while!

PS - the corporate sponsors for the minister's tourism awards? News Corporation of course.

Just think about it for a minute.

Actually you don't have to because I've written a blog post about it:

http://www.danupoyner.com/2008/11/20/watch-your-language-meteoric/
