The plot device of having a relative of one of the police officers starring in the show become a victim, so that "When Stanley's god-daughter is found murdered and other teenage girls have disappeared, Homicide has a personal stake in catching the person responsible. Stanley may have to cross the line to do so." is so lame... It happened like this when "The Bill" jumped the shark, when all the police at the "Sun Hill" station ended up involved in 90% of all crime in the area (either being victims or perpetrators). If they had closed the Sun Hill station, crime in the area would have disappeared. But it took "The BIll" years to get to this ludicrous state - "City Homicide" barely got past its first season!
