I raised this point with Mr Onthemoon this morning. He confided that while Turnbull had once made quite a serviceable koala, he was no so sleek and shiny he was now much more like a seal. This is barely Darwinian, but is evolution of a sort. I asked him whether this meant Malcolm Turnbull now had the FDOTM seal of approval. He thought this was pretty much beneath contempt. It should be noted though, that Kevin Rudd is still quite resolutely a balloon.

Malcolm is whatever FD wants him to be. We're flexible out here.

In all honesty MT is a chameleon. Depending on the day, the time and the moment he can surface as a shade of grey when you want a political black or white. Mr T can blend with all backgrounds, travel on jets and horseback and wear a yamulke as easily as anything Opus Dei asks him. All incredibly exciting for Malcolm but hopelessly confusing for the rest of us.

Still the Liberals love him.
