Thanks Guy, have to say I only read you mainly at the end, and I really liked this one too. Nothing personal about the earlier stuff just not that interested in the gun totin nut case that is the USA, too oft referred to as America as if Mexico, Central and South i.e. 250M others are not Americans. Have really been surprised and enjoyed the fact I watched about 80 hours of West Wing non stop and get most of the parallels and Sorkin scripting with help of Clinton presser etc running from 1999 onward. I notice too that Moira Kelly (series 1, and gorgeous) is in the move about Chaplin with star studded cast (2004). I notice the Toby Ziggler (Tubby Stickler) actor was in Tom Selleck vehicle in the local DVD again playing a bureaucratic wise ass this time lacking ideals.

Or how “tearing down the world” was a groan reference to World Trade Centre.

He does talk in pictures does this new pres elect aka The Man. Yeah, feeling the grace here too.

There are some people out there who give off the distinct impression that they think Obama is a lightweight, a push over — but I think they are very wrong. He’s going to bang heads together, and make a lot of changes in his administration. I probably won’t agree with all of those decisions — either will you — but god damn it, he’ll be able to back up his decisions with a well reasoned argument. Which is more than the current incompetent president can manage.

I’ve held my tongue every time someone makes the same comment but this time I must act.

The “Kool aid” line is, in fact, a misnomer. It is in fact meant to be “Drinking the Flavor-Aid”

It stems from the mass suicide cult of Jonestown (no, not the people who read the Masters book). The so-called Reverend Jim Jones (think a slightly less nerdy David Koresh) gave 900 odd of his followers Cyanide laced Flavor-Aid to commit suicide with.

The Kool-Aid reference is a mistake caused by the Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test which was a book by Tom Wolfe about a group of people in a day-glo bus who travel across America while stoned.

That said, Guy Rundle seems burnt out. That piece read a bit like Hunter Thompson leaving Las Vegas.

If he picks up a prostitute to watch him drink himself to death, I would not be surprised.
