Americans seem to be rather wedded to their electoral college system. In 2004, speaking on Late Night Live, Bruce Shapiro defended it, saying it was the only time small states were able to feel important (even though they might only have three electoral votes each). The argument left me scratching my head - why do these folks deserve a disproportionate say? Why does anyone? But then, I guess he hadn't heard of Joh.
