Now that's what I call considered commentary. Bravo Guy. Will the left commentariart over there (assuming ascendacy) become as depressingly powerful and influential as the right did under Bush? Yep i have seen The Corner at times. That is on my list of sites to avoid, as is the increasingly deranged HuppPo. Let's hope the hate subsides on both sides. Is that possible you think?

Talking of MSNBC. Ben Affleck's skit on Keith Olberman was superb. McCain was a triumph too. Thank for the laughs John. But it ends soon, right?

Dear Mr.Rundle
I find your articles increasingly unreadable, with hysteria having swamped the controlled hyperbole most of your career has balanced on. I find I need to go on line more and more and read English-written-English articles, (even the US journos on NYTimes are clearer, the Gaurdian is fine, I'm thinking of taking a subscription to Le Monde Diplomatique next) in order to avoid the noise of jarga -nese that pollutes the writing of most Australian journalism these days. Now you have succumbed to it, so much noise man, do you gasp for breath once your words commeth from near the 'BIG' world stage. I am trying to read through to the points today you are making but realistically it is a rather more time consuming effort than I really can afford
In solidarity
Ruark

Hey Ruark, it's gonzo journalism okay? It's in the contract somewhere way back at the start of the hobbit journey.

Good to read Rundle in form, final quarter in the Aussie Rules sense.

One thing, your view "they do what they do". Only I have a misgiving about that approach. You can forget the image of Al Gore 24 hours away from a coronary in the last 24 hours, red faced and trying so damn hard at the lectern. Now I've seen Barak in similar slightley less flustered form shouting just a tad "yes we can". Well, call me dumb but it's not quite the presidential poise is it.

I'm reminded of Jed watching baseball as all hell breaks loose in the minority Congress. I'm reminded even of W (God Forbid) going and playing Golf as Iraq turned to crap. Call him evil but it's somehow a better look than panic in the Man Whose Buck Stops Here.

Anyway good luck Barak. As for The Australian with Doogue-Shelby Steele interview on Radio National extracted in large today there is a real problem with that angle. People might be voting for him because they have white guilt, but they might be voting for him because he's got hybrid vigour and is just smarter, better, and still a winner with Bradley Effect lead weight in his bags. You see it's racist to think he just isn't a better package than tough, patriotic, man of good faith McCain.

And besides the DVD of Coach Carter said the same thing with a much better soundtrack. Get it at your local. Check the special feature interview with Coach, real deal too.

While most of this article was typically excellent, I'm puzzled by this sentence...

Indiana is the first state to close at 6pm, and if McCain is in trouble here, then it may be a short night. But aha, here's the trap. Parts of Indiana have polls closing at 7pm (daylight saving bollox too) and those parts include the city of Gary -- or Gaz to its friends -- which will go for Obama by about 75%..

(snip)

If Gary goes to Obama by about 75%, then McCain stays in trouble...

Maybe I'm just thick...

Ruark Lewis: Not that he needs me to stick up for him. But do I sense a note of jealousy about Rundle's blogs?
There is, old son, one thing Rundle can do standing on his ear. And that is to write. Whereas your comment, apart from being dipped in acid, is virtually incomprehensible.
The sound you are hearing from assorted comments below-is the one of one hand clapping.
