Don't forget the ACT, which was the first jurisdiction to decriminalize abortion, back in 2002: http://www.wayneberry.net/media/210802.htm

"Queensland doctors..holding an honest belief that a woman's best interests are being served by the procedure". What a farce and a charade. The reason for the uncertainty under present law is precisely that, though judicial interpretation in lower courts had defined a 'lawful' abortion as one done where the life/ physical/mental well being of the mother were threatened by the pregnancy, that a pregnancy could ever be said to pose such a threat could not be sustained when the evidence was examined, and in these days of evidence based medicine, that position was simply untenable.
There are groups like Dr De Costa's using mifepristone ( RU 486 ) but cloaked in secrecy, often refusing to divulge the protocols they are following.
Several deaths amongst young and fit women overseasas, well as significant morbidity, particularly when women in relatively remote areas are left to abort at home, have been attributed to a failure to adhere to protocols by abortion clinics. So for instance, the FDA called for an ultrasound to be performed to ensure that an ectopic pregnancy had not been missed, and women were supposed to attend for three visits in total, but clinics, to save money, would truncate the process.
Abortion is neither therapeutic nor just.
