John James, please follow Sarah Palin to the gates of Hell if that's your wish. I'm sure there are plenty, myself included, who will cheerfully wave goodbye to both of you.

Wonderful reporting, as ever, even if it does neglect Palin's great contribution - the fashion surge to elegant eye-wear. Personally, I've resisted changing my spectacles due to the prevalence of ugly, little frames with thick, nasty, thuggish arms. Sarah's spectacles have renewed my faith in innovation, strength and beauty, albeit Japanese.

As always with Rundle, the picture painted is very much that of the idealogue rather than the observer. With the references to Lenin and the "American way of doing things... has completely collapsed" you get a sense of the old Left wing wolves on the fringe, sensing blood and moving in for the kill but still a little unsure. And well might they be, for while McCain is certainly bleeding it would be foolish to dismiss his campaign. It is a tragedy that the wave of fear and panic so prevalent at the moment and leading to such irrationality in so many quarters may see a candidate so manifestly inadequate elected at a time when the free world is confronted by enormous challenges.
The Ayers story is instructive not because, as Obama says in his defense, he was 8 years old when Ayers was trying to kill as many "pigs" as he could, but because to-day, Ayers only lament is that he wasn't more effective. Given the opportunity he'd just do it all over again only, bigger and better.
Worst of all is Obama's promise to unleash an unparralled assault on the unborn by signing into law his Freedom of Choice Act, a bill designed to strike down every legislative restraint on access to abortion.
By contrast, Palin is taking the battle to him and very effectively. You sense that is why the Clintons have been asked to shore up support in the 'working class states' of Ohio and Pennsylvania . A woman who defends the innocent and the helpless, who, given the opportunity, elected to allow her disabled baby to live and praises God for him. that's a woman worth following to the gates of Hell. Not beyond mind you, because beyond lies the 'my choice crowd'. 'Me', for eternity! Once you've chosen yourself forever even God can't redeem you.

Bloody good stump stuff. One could almost touch it and very definitely smell it.

Spot on about what Biden has been doing and what an "effective" VP candidate can do on behalf of the campaign beyond "revving the base". Joe Biden may be uninspiring but at least he is regarded as competent and of course that is very reassuring.

Guy's final analys about McCain being as alien as Obama to the good folk at the rally was brilliant. Political reporting at its best.
Keep em coming.
