Who cares about Nick Minchin? An unprincipled loser who deserves nothing but the backbench, and not even that.

With your experience in Canberra Bernard you will be aware Sen Minchin only does what Sen Minchin wants to do. He would be very familiar with the progress of the Govts media agenda, that for starters means he will go down some other track. As he has never been a team player, Minchin obviously will not be too interested in finding favour with his new leader, given his career will hardly progress any further after supporting the good doctor so he could pull the strings. He cannot be trusted so look for any destabalising and if his demotion to shadow communications spurs him along, wait for the nonsense to start. it may have been in Opposition Leader Turnbulls best interests if he had sent the former Libreral leaders dirty tricks instigator, to the back bench. Would have been just reward for Minchins blatant undermining of Turnbull leading up to the new leaders elevation.
