If the Democrats had proposed that the institutions being pruchased be permanently held with a degree of state equity, and a supervisory elected board to control investment choices - ie choosing socially progressive projects over destructive ones - I'd be in favour. A simple buy-back and sell-on? No thanks. The second reason I am against the bailout is because the absence of one will maxmise the chaos, and collapse of the legitimicy of the current arrangements.
