I think Kevin Rudd needs to be very careful about looking like hes more interested in overseas trips and the foreign affairs stuff than whats happening here in Australia. In NSW it will only take a little while for NSW voters to realise he is from the same organization that Iemma, reba Meagher are from and Labor federally could lose government if action is not taken by Rudd on important issues. If I was Rudd id be spending more time in NSW than overseas. Id be worried.

70 new coal mines and massively increased coal exports: this is Australia's true climate change policy.

I could only interpret PM Rudd's calls at the UN for quicker action on clean coal technology as code for we are going to keep mining and selling as much coal as quickly as economic circumstances allow. I can only think those listening would have interpreted it the same way.

Anyone who thinks the world's biggest exporter of coal is a minor player and it's decisions and direction will have negligible impact on climate change is wearing blinkers. We are the problem and the hypocrisy of insisting what we decide and do is small change (because we don't take any responsibility for the emissions from the coal we sell) won't go unnoticed by the rest of the world.

KRudd has commanded the Sun to rise tomorrow, in the east and set in the west and he insists that it will happen ….. because he said so!
