If Turnbull's bleating about Rudd's US trip with a compliant media rabbiting on about it, is an example of his brilliance then Labor is safe for a long time yet.

NOTE TO ALL COMMENTATORS:

It's clear that ' Little Jimmy K ' thrives on the limelight......any limelight.........even that afforded to an offensive, witless, racist bigot such as he.

The best way to eliminate/minimise ' Tiny Jimmy's ' facile commentary, or at least reduce itsubstantially, is not to mention his name at all, or respond to his silly arguments.

Hopefully this tactic will rid us all, both left & right wing commentators, of his increasingly tiresome, low rent ramblings.

PS: apparently ' Mini Jimmy ' sees himself as a big-time ' player' ..........yes... really !!!!! You know the type......the one who thought that by bombarding political science tutes with endless facile comments, he would be seen as a stand-out student. Indeed, ' Mini Jimmy ' is clearly a stand-out stupid student.
Turnbull gives me the impression that he's acting a part all the time - the serious, economic man in Parliament, the jovial 'man of the people' on TV etc. I think the Libs are deluding themselves about how 'brilliant' he is - I suspect any 'bounce' will be minimal and short lived. The truth is that after years of following John Howard and agreeing with everything he said and did, the talent pool is seriously lacking. The shadow cabinet is full of has-beens and never-will-be's. I always support women in Parliament where I can but Bishop looks and sounds like a 70's version of the upper class twit and is hopeless at debating. Nelson might have put his foot in it now and then but at least he looked as though he cared. It will need a serious infusion of new talent before they can contemplate returning to power.

I notice Swan is now doing what Turnbull suggested a week ago and again last night (not that Michael would have noticed anything of relevance) to the tune of $4 billlion.

Ironically Swan described Turnbull's suggestion as "either a monumental gaffe or intentionally irresponsible" earlier in the week. Obviously his own Treasury put him right.

Swan has done the right thing but looks a bit of a turkey for his earlier response

Unlike Michael who is a vacuous turkey on a monotonously regular basis.....

Bernard Keane. An inspired linkage of names: Kissinger, Rudd, Meternich, Chinese SALT and all that Jazz. I am in awe.
To this punter, Turnbull's predominant failings are his inherent greasiness, together with his utter lack of passion. The passion of the true believer, as opposed to the manufactured variety.
ON A DIFFERENT AND LIGHTER TOPIC; I asked my local bookshop (I live in Higgins) how Peter Costello's Memoirs were doing against the Walter Slurry version. She whipped out an adding gizmo, did lots of clever things by factoring in the differences in prices, prior to coming up with the figure of 10-1 in favour of Slurry. I have to admit I suspect she votes the way I do.
It looks like we all came to the same conclusion. Turnbull and Bishop (the latter version) bored us to sobs this week...beige. When it was time for opening ceremony stuff the Birds Nest in the capital delivered fizzled performances with engineered fireworks and animated nothingness. "I smoked dope, she's got first day jitters". By Thursday it was time for the Speaker to rule in the interests of taxpayers and stave bulk servings of beef stroganoff with orders to House guests to fold their tents for the first flight home. Even parliaments and political parties need to quit while they're ahead.
