If anyone is truly interested in what the Catholic Church teaches about abortion in life threatening situations please go to www.cuf.org. Catholic doctors try to save both the mother and the unborn child.

God, forgive me aka 'This is my truth, tell me yours.' Exactly. I wrote a letter to the Age suggesting that all medical students, knowing that their religion may at some stage be at odds with the law, should choose another job. Naturally it wasn't printed. Too logical perhaps?

There is one simple question on the issue of abortion that is usually ignored, but without which any debate or discussion on the subject is relatively meaningless - 'At what stage of development does human life actually begin?'

If the answer is 'At birth', then killing the baby after this is obviously murder. If the answer is 'At some arbitrary period before birth - say, 24 weeks’, then killing the baby after this is murder. If the answer is, 'At conception', then killing the baby after this is murder.

Please carefully consider this question, then let your conscience, not someone's convenience, be your guide.
Correction: The Catholic school system knobbled Robert Menzies' government in 1962 -- that was 46 years ago, not 60 years as I previously stated..

They threatened to close the Catholic schools and dump their kids on the states' schools system unless Robert Menzies caved in and provided government aid nearly 60 years ago. We should nationalise the Catholic hospitals this time. After all, the taxpayers fund their capital works and running costs these days.

Dogfight at Bankstown: State imposed murder: You have to be John James using a nom de plume. No matter how much you love firing from your Catholic hip. You know fuck all about Victoria. Catholic church hospitals in VIC have never allowed abortion, tube tying, removal of ovaries and sundry other ailments which women have been landed by the immense benevolent wisdom of the males that run the Catholic system. So kindly refrain from commenting, adversely, on something which didn't exist in the first place.

I am stunned by everyone's ignorance: the stupid archbishop of the Catholic church, what's his name? Hart. Ironic. He doesn't have one. Is carefully toeing the line as put out by the Catholic church for the past two thousand years, he promptly stirs up the moronic-meaning the catholics who are moronic-and there's heaps of them-with a criminally inaccurate blather about Church hospitals in VIC refusing to co-operate on anything to do with abortion bill, if it passes the VIC senate; which, of course, is exactly what the addlepated archbishop wants not to happen. THE CATHOLIC CHURCH HAS NEVER allowed abortion in VIC. Nor does it allow anything to be removed, or altered-tube tying, removal of ovaries, etc-which would impede the woman from procreating. This amazing attitude is germane to women of all ages. THUS a woman of 90 with a suspected cancer on an ovary cannot have it removed at a Catholic hospital. As it might prevent her from getting pregnant. Therefore his rant is a total beat up to fool the gullible-And look how many of them there are. For the Catholic church to threaten anything to do with procreation is like a man with two legs (healthy) refusing the offer of a third leg and sueing the person who offered it. The whole thing is a no-brainer!

What would Jesus think ?

I seriously doubt Archbishop Hart or any of his paedophile-protecting ilk could give two stuffs..

Practising Roman Catholics believe that the old Nazi in residence at the Vatican is infallable - God's man on earth. The Lord Jesus Christ doesn't come into it !
